Program Info
The dance program is designed for the serious student who wishes to continue their training in college.  Students will increase their technical level, be exposed to various theories and philosophies in the academic dance world, and have the opportunity to perform in a variety of situations. The program is modern based but offers plenty of flexibility for students to focus on the style(s) of dance that suit the student best. The small program offers students the ability to create close bonds with faculty and fellow students. We offer a variety of performance and choreographic outlets as well as, the opportunity to attend national conferences such as The American College Dance Festival.
Students are provided a solid foundation in the areas of technique, performance, choreography, history and movement analysis/somatics. Students are afforded the opportunity to focus on individual areas of interest supported by mentoring and interaction with faculty. Our program encourages integration of the curricular areas, supports an interdisciplinary approach, promotes the education of the whole person, values cultural and curricular diversity, and treats our students as individuals.
Our graduates are prepared for performance opportunities in a variety of settings as well as to pursue programs of higher learning in dance.
Recent Grads from the program are performing with companies in DC, Miami, New York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia. Alums have attended graduate schools for dance at Drexel, Florida State, NYU, Ohio State, and Temple. Many alums also teach in a variety of settings.
